This policy explains what data IQ3K may collect, how we use it, and the choices available to players.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use IQ3K, we may collect account details (such as email and display name), gameplay data (answers, streaks, session timing), technical data (IP address, browser/device metadata), and moderation data (chat and profile review signals).

When an adult creates an account, we also collect a broad age group, country of residence and gender selection. Adults may select “Prefer not to say” for gender. For registered players aged 13 to 17, we store only that they are under 18; we do not ask for or store their country or gender. IQ3K accounts are not currently available to children under 13.

How we use information

We use data to operate the game, keep rounds synchronized, deliver leaderboards, secure accounts, detect abuse, moderate community features, troubleshoot reliability issues, and improve gameplay quality.

Aggregated statistical reporting

We use broad demographic groups and gameplay outcomes to produce aggregated statistics about how groups of players perform across quiz categories. Demographic selections are not displayed on public profiles, used to make decisions about individual players, or used to personalise advertising. Reports are designed to describe groups rather than identify individual players.

Our basis for using this information

We process account and gameplay information where it is needed to provide and secure the IQ3K service. We use broad demographic information for our legitimate interest in producing useful, privacy-conscious statistical analysis of quiz performance. We limit the information collected and apply additional restrictions to information about players under 18.

Guest play and registered accounts

Live-quiz players, including guests, can earn XP, levels, correct-answer totals, play-day streaks and achievements. Guest progress is stored temporarily using a random browser token, with a seven-day inactivity expiry. Creating and verifying a new account from that guest session preserves its progress. Registered accounts keep progress across sessions and devices. Your level and equipped badge may appear with your display name in chat and the live leaderboard; full progression requires your account or guest credential.

If you select “Stay logged in on this device”, we save a login token in your browser for returning visits. Otherwise the token is stored for the current tab session. Browsers may restore tab sessions. We do not store your password in browser storage. Logging out revokes that login token.

Streak sharing

If you choose to create a streak image or video, IQ3K generates it on your device from the question, possible answers, your answer, the correct answer and your ended streak. IQ3K does not upload or store this media. It leaves your device only when you choose a share destination or download it yourself.

You can also choose to create an achievement image on your device using the earned milestone, achievement description, your level and IQ3K branding. Achievement and streak exports do not include your display name, account identifier or demographic details. Achievement images use the same local sharing and download approach.

Communications

If you register, we may send account verification or security emails. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Advertising

IQ3K uses brief interstitial advertising intervals. Advertising delivery may involve contextual or technical signals needed to serve and measure ad content. Registration demographics are not used to personalise advertising.

Data retention

We retain account-linked information only as long as reasonably needed for service operation, statistical reporting, legal obligations, security, and abuse prevention. Account-linked demographic information is removed when the associated account is deleted, subject to any legal requirement to retain information. Aggregated information that no longer identifies an individual may be retained for longer-term comparison and reporting.

Your rights and choices

Logged-in players can add or correct their broad statistical details from the Settings menu. A change applies to future answers; previously aggregated, non-identifying report totals are not reassigned. You can also contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of account-linked personal data, or to object to our use of demographic information for statistical reporting, where applicable under law.
